AIO for contacting my lawyer after a veterinarian mixed up my dog with one scheduled for euthanasia?

Let me start by saying I strongly feel I’m not overreacting, but I really need outside validation beyond family.
I live in a very high-end area of GA, and we’ve trusted our veterinarian for years—they’ve been wonderful. However, I recently took my 63-lb Siberian husky in for his yearly check-up, and everything seemed routine until I received three missed calls from the vet. I panicked, wondering if my dog had acted out. When I called back, the receptionist asked if I still wanted to proceed with my dog’s “remains.” I was horrified and asked, “What are you talking about? My dog is seven years old, healthy, and here for a check-up.”
Suddenly, I was transferred to the main vet tech, who profusely apologized, explaining that there was another Siberian husky, the same age, with terminal cancer, and there had been a mix-up. I told her this was unacceptable and that I’d be contacting my lawyer. In the last 72 hours, I’ve received over 15 missed calls, five emails, and multiple texts from them. My biggest fear is that if I hadn’t answered, my dog might have been put to sleep by mistake.
My lawyer has strongly advised me not to leave reviews yet, as it could impact settlement discussions, so I haven’t done so. The vet has apologized repeatedly, saying this was a huge error and that nothing would have proceeded without authorization—but I’m still shaken by this.
