While thanking Trump’s supporters, Musk made a gesture that many interpreted as a Nazi salute. I was shocked when I saw the footage. I showed it to him, expecting him to be disgusted or at least concerned, but instead, he shrugged and said something like, “It’s probably just out of context. Even if it’s not, it’s not like he’s actually a Nazi. Who cares?” I felt my stomach drop. I asked him how he could brush something like that off, and he doubled down, saying, “He’s goated for doing that” while smirking at me.
