Why do I see so many Trump voters say “It’s just politics?”

I was lead to believe by Trump supporters that voting for Trump was due to him causing a noticeable change in the economic outlooks and the ability to express individual rights as an American, which seems to be important. However, people who oppose Trump also seem to believe he will affects their economic future and liberties in a negative way and seems to be upset enough to end some familial and friendly relationships with Trump supporters.
What I don’t understand is I see the Trump supporters saying that it’s wrong to end relationships over “just politics”. How do Trump supporters reconcile that politics will have a meaningfully effect on important matters but also it’s not important enough to react strongly to?
Edit: I’m seeing many people answering how Trump won’t cause anything to change, and that’s why they see this as just politics but the question is about people who voted because they thought it would have meaningful change.
